Christy Hoppe is the former Austin bureau chief for The Dallas Morning News and spent a career covering state politics and Texas government. She has covered the administrations of five governors and has written extensively on four presidential elections. Christy began her reporting career while attending the University of Texas, where she wrote for The Daily Texan and contributed to articles in The New York Times and Time magazine. She worked at the Corpus Christi Caller-Times before joining the Dallas News, where she was a reporter and editor before joining the Austin bureau. Her work has been recognized with awards from the Associated Press Managing Editors, Texas Headliners and Dallas Press Club.
