Emily Quigley (she/her) is a lecturer in the School of Journalism and Media and the associate director of the Moody Writing Support Program.
Emily worked for 19 years at the Austin American-Statesman in various roles, including copy editor and assistant news editor. During her last few years there, she was the assistant features editor, working directly with reporters and freelance writers to craft stories about food, movies, art, books, popular culture and more while also occasionally writing for the newspaper’s entertainment website, Austin360.
Since coming to Moody College in 2019, Emily has taught the beginning newswriting course, Reporting Words, and she helped launch the Curriculum for Ethical Leadership in News. She also is an editor and writer for Texas Connect, the staff and faculty magazine of The University of Texas.
Emily earned her bachelor’s degree in English from Rhodes College and her master’s degree in journalism from the University of Missouri.
