Matt is an ACUE-certified creative advertising teacher who has spent the past two decades teaching and inspiring upper-division undergraduate and graduate students.
A graduate of UT and Harvard, he brought his many years of advertising industry experience back to the Forty Acres in 2006, after working as a creative director and copywriter for several legendary creative ad agencies, including Deutsch and DDB, where he worked with a variety of Fortune 500 clients to create and produce award-winning national and global campaigns.
Currently an Associate Professor of Instruction, Matt teaches primarily in the Texas Creative sequence, but also developed two very popular electives (Brand Storytelling and Digital Graphic Communications), and has taught many other courses across the ADV/PR curriculum. He serves as Chair of the Assessment committee as well.
His former students (over 5,000) include numerous industry leaders, and several college-level creative advertising teachers. As students, they won every major national and international advertising student award.
His specialties include creative advertising, successful online teaching, integrated campaign development, copywriting, and branding. He has also done curriculum development at UT as well as West Virginia University and Ringling College of Art + Design.
Matt is married to a fellow Longhorn and the proud parent of a teenager. He has hundreds of nearly-finished electronic music tracks languishing on his hard drive.
