Diana Dawson

Meet our founder

After 18 years as a lecturer in the School of Journalism, Diana Dawson saw a way to improve communication students’ writing and in 2013 created what is now the Moody Writing Support Program. Over the past decade, the program has grown from 250 student appointments in its first year to more than 2,000 appointments annually. Our coaches also assist professors with in-class workshops and host after-hours programs to boost students’ confidence and reinforce core skills.

Dawson has taught the school's beginning newswriting course since 1996 and also teaches features writing and reporting on social issues. Before teaching, she worked as a reporter in newsrooms nationwide for 17 years.
