Center for Advancing Teaching Excellence

The Center for Advancing Teaching Excellence (CATE) champions student-centered teaching and learning at the Moody College of Communication. 

 

We work with faculty and instructors to support course design and develop teaching expertise. By fostering innovative and collaborative teaching practices, CATE aims to ensure Moody College students experience authentic and memorable learning to prepare for success in life and career.

TA Training

Spring 2025 New Faculty and TA Trainings

Spring 2025 training for new faculty will take place on Friday, January 10th, from 9am to 1pm in DMC 2.508. New TA training will take place on Thursday, January 9th, from 9am to 1pm (location to be determined). Time and topics will be announced soon.

CATECon Fall 2024

Attend CATECon!

Treat yourself to a collegial spring course planning experience at CATECon! Three targeted mini sessions provide the most up-to-date instructional design support to draft your syllabus, set up your Canvas course, and plan for effective use of technology. Refreshments will be served, and door prizes will be awarded. RSVP to hold your spot on Wednesday, January 8th, from 9am to 1pm in DMC 2.508.

Fill your teaching toolbox with evidence-based approaches for active learning! CATE presents the Active Discussion Series focusing on engaging students in both high-level critical and creative thinking to facilitate meaningful interrogation of complex discipline topics. Access step-by-step guides to try a new instructional move.
